The cause of the crash was not immediately clear. In a statement, the Navy’s Third Fleet said the helicopter “crashed into the sea” at 4:30 p.m. local time while it was conducting “routine flight operations” about 60 nautical miles off the coast.


Military officials identified the helicopter that crashed as an MH-60S, a model that has been in use since 2002, according to the Naval Air Systems Command.
The helicopter had been assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier based in San Diego. In a statement on Facebook on Wednesday, Lincoln officials called the crash a “tragedy.”

¿Que pasa al final con su artillería?, porque he leido varios articulos pero no me queda claro que va a llevar operacional al final....Lo de las municiones guiadas nada, ¿no?

La artilleria de los zumwalt no esta demasiado claro como esta. Por ahora, lo unico seguro de toda seguridad es que de rail electromagnetico nada de nada. Al dia de hoy, lo mas probable es que vayan con cañones practicamente inoperativos en espera de versiones avanzadas convencionales. Otro "programa locura" donde se han enterrado los millones a miles y miles.

The Navy has studied using a variant of the all Multiple All-up-round Canisters (MAC) system – developed for the Ohio class, which put seven Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAM) in the same space of a Trident-II D5 nuclear ballistic missile – to hold the larger C-HGBs. A decade ago the Navy researched packing three shorter-range ballistic missiles into a MAC and is using that work as a basis to field the new hypersonic weapons.

For Zumwalt, the Navy has studied replacing at least one of the 155 mm gun mounts with one or two MAC tubes to field the missile. While the study work is moving forward, there is not yet a program of record to modify the Zumwalts to field the tubes. Given the timeline laid out by Gilday, the money could likely be part of the Fiscal Year 2022 budget expected to emerge sometime in May, USNI News understands. It’s also unclear which platform would receive the missiles first.

Five sailors were declared dead on Saturday, four days after a U.S. Navy helicopter crashed off the coast near San Diego, military officials said.

Navy officials on Sunday identified the sailors as Lt. Bradley A. Foster, 29, a pilot from Oakhurst, Calif.; Lt. Paul R. Fridley, 28, a pilot from Annandale, Va.; James P. Buriak, 31, a second-class Naval air crewman from Salem, Va.; Sarah F. Burns, 31, a second-class hospital corpsman from Severna Park, Md.; and Bailey J. Tucker, 21, a third-class hospital corpsman from St. Louis.

One sailor who was rescued from the helicopter was in stable condition on Wednesday, the Navy said. Five sailors who were aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln at the time of the crash also were injured and were in stable condition on Wednesday, the Navy said. The Navy did not say how those sailors were injured.

Lanzamiento de misiles desde el USV Ranger de la denominada Ghost Fleet Overlord, que es la flota de buques de superficie no tripulados de prueba operados por la Us Navy. Y desarrollados por la Oficina de Capacidades Estratégicas del Departamento de Defensa. Es una asociación entre la Oficina de Capacidades Estratégicas del Departamento de Defensa y la Marina. El 3 de septiembre se realizó un ejercicio de lanzamiento con SM6 desde un lanzador modular con capacidad para cuatro misiles .

The SBX consists of an advanced radar system mounted on a modified oil-drilling vessel designed for exceptional stability in high winds and storms. The platform's mobility allows the Warfighter to relocate SBX for operational flexibility in support of the MDS. The SBX vessel is operating in the Pacific Ocean at present, and may remain at sea for months at a time. When underway, the vessel is resupplied from an offshore supply vessel that brings fuel and supplies, and supports crew rotation. The supply vessel transportation from a port of embarkation to SBX at sea will be provided by the Government, and in some circumstances, an airport of embarkation may be designated for charter or military flights. Supply visit timing may vary, but is currently planned for once every three weeks.

SBX tracks, discriminates, and assesses long-range ballistic missiles as a component of the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system. The X-Band radar itself, which sits atop a floating platform, is the :arrow: largest, most sophisticated phased-array, electromechanically steered X-band radar in the world. It consists of thousands of antennae driven by transmit/receive modules. The X-band radar provides the fire control sensor functions for the GMD system, including search acquisition, tracking, discrimination, and hit assessment.

Task performance will primarily take place onboard SBX which usually operates from Pearl Harbor, HI, with additional requirements at Huntsville, AL; Dutch Harbor, AK; San Diego. CA; San Francisco, CA; Puget Sound, WA; Colorado Springs, CO; and Washington, District of Columbia (DC).

About 69,632 multisectional circuits are used in the radar for transmitting, receiving and amplifying signals.

The 18,000lbs radome measures 103ft in height and 120ft in diameter. It is built with high-tech synthetic fabric material to withstand wind speeds of more than 130mph. Air pressure supports the flexible cover which surrounds the radar.

The vessel is also installed with small rigid radomes. Onboard equipment is powered by six 3.6MW generators.
