- Se desarrollará una nueva versión del motor, mucho más potente que la versión Tranche II que simplemente es una mejora de entre un 5-10% en cuanto a consumo y potencia (nota: recuerdo que el EJ200 de la Tranche 2 incluye además el DECMU así como mejora la vida media general y en un 25% en caso de las piezas sometidas a mayores esfuerzos por supercurcero. Y recuerdo también que al EJ200 se le podía aumentar la potencia (según Eurojet) hasta un 30% más);
Eurofighter Tranche 2 production
The contract for the second tranche of production was signed on 14 December 2004. However, in order to accommodate the export order for Tranche 1 aircraft from Austria and the order placed by Saudi Arabia in 2007, the numbers have changed slightly as follows:
Germany: 79
The Luftwaffe is giving up five delivery slots and six aircraft already used from Tranche 1 to Austria, as a result of which it will receive correspondingly more aircraft from Tranche 2.
United Kingdom: 91
This number has increased by two (originalmente eran 89), as some aircraft from Tranche 1 were relinquished to Austria. The Royal Air Force will initially forego the delivery of 20 single-seaters and four two-seaters from Tranche 2 production, which are now earmarked for Saudi Arabia starting in 2009. They will then be replaced towards the end of the production batch. This will mean deferment of the establishment of additional squadrons and commencement of flying operations at the second base in Leuchars until 2011.
Italy: 47
This number has increased by one (eran 46), as one aircraft from Tranche 1 was relinquished to Austria.
Spain: 34
This number has increased by one (eran 33), as one aircraft from Tranche 1 was relinquished to Austria.
Saudi Arabia: 72
To ensure that its Typhoons are delivered quickly, Saudi Arabia will be taking 24 aircraft earmarked for the RAF (including four two-seaters), starting in mid-2009. They will initially be used to train pilots and maintenance personnel in Coningsby. The remaining 48 Typhoons (including eight two-seaters) will then be assembled in Saudi Arabia itself from 2011 as Project Salam envisages a technology transfer. The partner for this work will be Alsalam Aircraft, which is collaborating with BAE Systems. Costs will total £4.43 billion (€5.6 billion). Saudi Arabia stresses that the unit price of £61.5 million (€77.7 million) is the same price that the RAF is paying.

Tranche 2 Aircraft deliveries to Partner Nations Begins
10/10/2008
Hallbergmoos '' 10 October 2008. The handover of BS040 to the Royal Air Force today marks the beginning of Tranche 2 aircraft deliveries to the four partner air forces. The other three air forces will start receiving their aircraft in near term.
Eurofighter Typhoon has been ordered by six nations (Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Austria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). With 707 aircraft under contract, it is Europe's largest military collaborative programme and delivers leading-edge technology, strengthening Europe's aerospace industry in the global competition. More than 100,000 jobs in 400 companies are secured by the programme. Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH manages the programme on behalf of the Eurofighter Partner Companies Alenia Finmeccanica, BAE Systems, EADS CASA and EADS Deutschland, Europe's foremost aerospace companies with a total turnover of €60.7 billion (2006).
Tranche 2/Block 8 (entregándose ahora)
Block 8 aircraft from Tranche 2 are only configured for the air-to-air role (como véis esto ha cambiado pues ya los Tranche 1 usan Paveway II GBU-10 y -16, cañón con modos AS y bombas no guiadas). Phase 1 Enhancement (firmado en marzo de 2007) for Block 8 aircraft will add air-to-surface capabilities (Paveway IV and EGBU-16) alongside full integration of the Laser Designator pod (como se vé, eso se ha cumplido). A follow-on P2E (Phase 2 Enhancement) phase will intergrate more advanced weaponry such as the Storm Shadow cruise missile and JDAM (como veréis más adelante, eso también se cumple).
Tranche 2/Block 10
Block 10 (EOC-1) will feature the full-standard DASS, AIM-120C-5 AMRAAM (nota: esto varió, pues el C-5 está integrado desde la Tranche 1) and Paveway III.
Tranche 2/Block 15
Block 15 (EOC-2) will add the Meteor AAM, Storm Shadow and a reconnaissance capability.
Green Light for New Eurofighter Capabilities
30/03/2007
The Phase 1 Enhancement (para la Tranche 2) will include the integration of new weapons like Paveway IV and the EGBU-16 (Enhanced Guided Bomb Unit) alongside integrating a Laser Designator Pod (LDP) into Tranche 2 aircraft of all four partner nations. The Human Machine Interface will receive performance upgrades required for the simultaneous Swing Role operation, allowing a pilot to continue a bomb run while at the same time fight air attacks by minimizing the pilot's workload in complex air warfare scenarios. Further extension of the MIDS performance (Multifunctional Information and Distribution System) is a substantial contribution to this objective.
....
The final Tranche 1 capability already covers air-to-ground operations with Paveway II and GBU-10/16 Laser Guided Bombs (LGB) plus conventional bombs and the gun.
....
Eurofighter Typhoon of Tranche 2 will receive additional functionalities In the Phase 2 Enhancement. The four national Eurofighter consortium plans to start work on the respective proposal in the second half of 2007. It will mainly focus on the integration of new weapons probably including standoff weapons like Storm Shadow and Taurus.
....
A second batch of future enhancements has been submitted during the Berlin Air Show this year (2008). “Phase 2 Enhancement (P2E)”is targeted to be implemented (on Tranche 2 Eurofighters) by the end of 2014. It focuses on the introduction of enhanced weapons expected at this time, like enhanced Storm Shadow, Taurus, supersonic delivery of Paveway IV weapons, Brimstone, Small Diameter Bomb, AMRAAM C-5/C-7, and Meteor. Other improvements of subsystems are also expected, including further enhancement of DASS. Further enhancements are expected for Tranche 3 currently under negotiations with the core customers. The objective is to have a contract ready by end 2008/early 2009.
Note: By mid- 2008 all Block designations have been deleted from the Typhoon program, except for Block 9 which has been instituted as a placeholder for future capabilities, to be more flexible in adapting future customer requirements.
