Houthi terrorists conducted a large-scale uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) attack into the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
U.S. and Coalition [France, Denmark & United Kingdom] forces downed a total of at least 28 uncrewed aerial vehicles between 4:00 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. (Sanaa time) on Mar. 9.
No U.S. or Coalition Navy vessels were damaged in the attack and there were also no reports by commercial ships of damage.
The Houthis have released a statement that says a total of 37 were launched.

Especifican: 4 derribados por la fragata francesa con apoyo de cazas franceses (no embarcados), 2 por la inglesa y 4 por la danesa, el resto los yanquis. Y los demás no se sabe, pero no ha habido daños a buques en 24 h.

Russia Tests FPV Drones on Fiber-Optic Cables in Ukraine

The invasion forces of Russia have started using FPV drones controlled via fiber optic wires. This way of signal exchange makes the UAVs completely invulnerable to any electronic warfare systems as they operate without reliance on radio communication.

US Air Force cuts fighter acquisition goals for 2025

In its fiscal year 2025 budget request, the US Air Force reveals it plans to acquire fewer F-15EXs, temporarily slow the pace of F-35 purchases and spend billions of dollars developing a sixth-generation fighter and autonomous jets to support the new platform.

US Army Wants $120M for LASSO Kamikaze Drones in Fiscal 2025

The US Army is asking lawmakers for $120.6 million to procure Low Altitude Stalking and Strike Ordnance (LASSO) production systems in fiscal 2025 as the U.S. military moves to beef up its arsenal of loitering munitions.
LASSO is a new-start program for fiscal 2025 that’s part of the service’s vision for a family of low-altitude UAS that are “semi-autonomous (human-in-the-loop) unmanned aerial systems that improves the Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) lethality in terms of stand-off and destruction against dismounted formations, armored vehicles, and tanks,” according to newly released budget justification documents.
The goal of the project is to make infantry brigades as lethal as armored brigades, according to the Army.

Shield AI, a defense technology company, today announced it has been selected by NAVAIR PMA-281 to integrate its AI Pilot Hivemind onto the Kratos BQM-177A to enable advanced AI-based autonomy.

Shield AI will work closely with Kratos to contribute to the U.S. Navy’s objective of increasing capabilities to provide fleet protection by utilizing AI-powered crewed-uncrewed teaming (CU-T) capabilities. "This will be the eighth different type of aircraft integration we’ve done; it will be the fourth jet aircraft... The last integration we did was about 165 days from contract award to first AI-piloted flights, and so we’re hoping to top that. I’m also excited to see what our AI pilot will do with the Kratos BQM-177 — an amazing aircraft capable of flying .95 Mach and as low as 6.6 feet above the ocean,” said Brandon Tseng, Shield AI’s President/Cofounder, a mechanical engineer, and a former U.S. Navy SEAL.

...employs an AI architecture that starts with foundational autonomy behaviors. These core behaviors, essential for both administrative and tactical operations, are enhanced to support advanced, collaborative tactics among multi-agent systems. Utilizing Expert Systems and Reinforcement Learning, this method enables precise, autonomous coordination of multiple sensor-equipped or shooter-equipped uncrewed aircraft, marking a significant advancement in collaborative tactical behaviors for defensive counterair (DCA) operations.

Shield AI’s flagship product, Hivemind, is an AI pilot that enables teams of intelligent aircraft to operate and complete missions autonomously in high-threat environments, without the need for remote operators or GPS. Hivemind is an aircraft-agnostic autonomy... It has flown on six different aircraft and deployed on hundreds of aircraft. The different aircraft include three quadcopters (Nova, Nova 2 and iPRD), the MQ-35A V-BAT, the F-16 and Kratos MQM-178 Firejet. Later this year, it will fly Kratos’ XQ-58 Valkyrie. Shield AI’s work as part of the DARPA ACE Team, where its AI Pilot won the DARPA AlphaDogFight and later flew F-16 completely autonomously, has been named a finalist for the Collier Trophy – an annual award given to the “greatest achievement in aviation and astronautics.”
