Navantia is like that hooker who offers you a $2 blowjob but she always uses her teeth.
Yeah Navantias ships look great on paper, but I’ve read many a stokers negative reviews of the Canberra and Hobart class. Might be a better to get the corvettes from Germany instead
I have mates that work on both at garden island, hobarts are very good but the Canberras are the biggest pile of crap.
To put it simply, these ships arent designed to be easily maintainable. You need to take the car apart to replace the wiper fluid sort of design. I'm not going to dox myself but I'll say that Navantia has a poor reputation among naval defence contractors.
I will say this, for a regional presence-type/sub hunting frigate, I can sort of trust Navantia or any other EU nation to provide us with a viable product. For a ship meant to provide air defence from a fuck ton of missiles and aircraft, I would look elsewhere. EU ships were designed for the European environment not the Indo-Pacific. Your EU ship can live with a 48-cell VLS ship because it can rely on partner countries for mutual defence and resupplying is not a logistical nightmare and more often than not, air defence can be provided by your close-by air force so you can afford to be more liberal with what missiles you fit yourself with. We do not have that luxury.
