Me parece totalmente irreal en la situación económica en la que nos encontramos, aunque de llevarse a cabo me parecería una muy buena noticia (bien gestionada, claro), sobre todo después del duro varapalo que supuso el fracaso del lanzamiento del satélite SEOSAT/INGENIO en un cohete VEGA europeo, y que dejó cojo al programa PNOTS, y que nos hace seguir dependiendo de la compra de imágenes por satélite del sistema satelital francés CSO, sustitutos de los HELIOS II.
También espero que de llevarse a cabo, no le 'robe' presupuestos a Defensa.

Lockheed Martin Corp., Littleton, Colorado, has been awarded a $1,010,000,000 fixed-price incentive-fee, cost-plus-incentive-fee and cost-reimbursement contract for Space Based Infrared Surveillance contractor logistics support. Work will be performed on Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado; Buckley AFB, Colorado; Greeley Air National Guard Station, Colorado; and Boulder, Colorado, and is expected to be completed July 1, 2026. This award is the result of a sole-source acquisition. Fiscal 2021 operation and maintenance funds will be used with no funding being obligated at the time of award. Space and Missile Systems Center, Peterson AFB, Colorado, is the contracting activity (FA8823-21-C-0001).

The center is just the latest space-related facility established at Kirtland Air Force Base, which serves as a home to SMC’s Innovation and Prototyping Directorate, the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate, and the Space Rapid Capabilities Office. In November, AFRL opened the Deployable Structures Laboratory, a $4 million building dedicated to developing deployable space structures. A few months later, AFRL began construction on the $3.5 million Skywave Technology Laboratory, which will house its space environment research. Most recently, AFRL announced the opening of a $12.8 million Space Warfighting Operations Research and Development, or SWORD, lab to track objects on orbit, advance satellite cybersecurity, and develop autonomous capabilities.
