The U.S. Navy has reduced its planned buys of the Lockheed Martin F-35C Joint Strike Fighter by almost one-third over the fiscal 2016-2020 Future Years Defense Program (FYDP), while committing almost $800 million to new standoff weapon developments and canceling the only missile program that was primarily dedicated to the F-35C. All the new developments are part of the fiscal 2016 presidential budget proposal and constitute the first move by a U.S. service to slow down its JSF procurements.

Description:

This effort (MN-F3516) funds retrofits due to concurrency changes to correct deficiencies discovered after DD-250 of the last aircraft in a given Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) lot. This includes modifications required to extend aircraft service life currently limited by low-life parts, and relieve capability limitations driven by concurrency of production with development. The concurrency funding line will procure the highest priority modifications from the Tri-Service Modification Prioritization List, as soon as they become supportable from an engineering, production, and installation standpoint. The list is vetted by the Services and Partners every 6 months to ensure the list accurately reflects existing requirements as well as emerging issues. Per-kit costs will vary for each modification being implemented, and in some cases will also vary for aircraft from different LRIP lots to implement an individual modification. For FY16, the highest priority modifications will directly support USAF IOC, Block 3i, and tactics development. The following modifications will be the highest priorities for accomplishment throughout the F-35A CTOL fleet using funds from this Budget Activity.

Nunca paran de dar pegas, siempre salen cosas nuevas y siempre hay modificaciones en marcha, algunas menores y otras gordas, al principio porque es nuevo, luego porque es viejo y entre medias porque no es ni una cosa ni otra. Y siempre que salen a volar, siempre, vuelven con averias.

Efectivamente. Y eso mismo es aplicable a los recientes A400M y NH-90, que sin embargo criticamos a saco (yo mismo) y con razón por sus pegas actuales. Pero o criticamos a todos o a ninguno por lo mismo.

Claro, es que es lo mismo poner una lista así de grande de cosas que no sabemos que significan que leer que los usuarios no quieren recepcionar los aparatos, quieren devolver los recibidos y piensan hacer que les devuelvan el dinero.

Si los ingleses u holandeses dijeran de sus F-35 recien recibidos la mitad de la mitad de lo que han dicho los alemanes o franceses de sus A400 me gustaria oiros. Y si de ese programa alguno hiciera como los sudafricanos o los chilenos ni te cuento. Pero como son programas de nuestra todopoderosa industria lo de la viga y la paja viene que ni pintado.

A mí eso me da igual. Nunca me gustó la familia de helos Puma, hace mucho tiempo que critico el NH-90 y ahora tampoco me fío del A400M, como grandes ejemplos. Sin embargo aquí hay quien critica más los retrasos, sobrecostes y pegas de un lado que de otro. ¿Por qué esa diferencia? ¿Por lo de que aquello no me afecta? ¿Y por eso somos parciales justificando en un lado lo que en otro es criticable?

y en otro tipo de sistemas (radar, IRST, guerra electrónica, etc) también puede meter mano?

y los otros países, coleguitas de orden inferior , podrán meter mano en algo??
