27 April 2009 - Eurofighter in Turkey
Turkey's 9th four day International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) kicks off today at the Tuyap Fair, Convention and Congress Center in Bí¼yí¼kí§ekmece, Istanbul. Eurofighter Typhoon exhibits at the event as it has in previous years. The purpose of our attendance is to support the current Eurofighter Typhoon export activities in Turkey, led by our partner company Alenia Aeronautica.
Eurofighter Typhoon will focus its presence on a stand with the Eurofighter Cockpit Demonstrator and a movie theatre showing several promotional videos including Safeguarding our Nations Future and 2008 Highlights. Also on display will be a half scale EJ200 engine model, a CAPTOR-E RADAR, Praetorian DASS pods, a PIRATE/IRST model, a 1/12th scale Eurofighter Typhoon model and an HEA display Striker. Eurofighter GmbH will be working alongside the Finmeccanica exhibit and in conjunction with the Alenia team.
Our objective is to demonstrate the excellent operational capabilities of Eurofighter Typhoon and the benefits of the Eurofighter partnership to the official visitors and delegations, with a focus on Turkey's political, military, and industrial representatives.
Diplomats in Croatia wanted to serve traditional white bangers at the bash to celebrate Germany's 60 years as a democracy but couldn't get the right mustard anywhere locally.
So they called in air support from the Luftwaffe who sent pilot Norbert Biehler with a case of the special sweet mustard for the party, reports Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List.
Now the extravagant use of military funds in under investigation in Germany.
Sir Glenn, 55, heaped praise upon the Typhoon, the RAF's controversial multi-role combat jet, which, like the carriers, has been widely dismissed by many senior officers as a waste of money.
The RAF chief said that anyone '' including his fellow senior officers '' who suggested that the aircraft was a waste of money was speaking "rubbish".
He also revealed for the first time that the Typhoon force will consist of around 123 jets and not the 232 as originally planned.
The RAF will only receive just over half the original number of the 232 Typhoons which were originally ordered, the rest will be sold to foreign allies to help pay for the cost of the aircraft.
Privately, many senior officers believe that the aircraft is a Cold War relic and a waste of money. But Sir Glenn dismissed these claims as "rubbish", adding that it was "disappointing" to learn that such smears were being peddled from within the Ministry of Defence.
He added: "There is no other aircraft better than the Typhoon except for a US F22 Raptor and an F22 is significantly more expensive. Typhoon is truly multi-role, it is a world class aeroplane. It is absolute rubbish to call it a cold war relic and that just demonstrates that people do not understand what the aircraft does."

No sé si confirmada o no.
